Why this exists
Modern heat pumps from reputable manufacturers can all work well. What usually makes the bigger difference is the system design, the survey, the setup, and the installer’s ability to explain the choices clearly.
A good installer should be able to talk through heat loss, radiator sizing, pipework, controls, hot water, commissioning and aftercare in a way that makes sense. You do not need to become a heating engineer, but you should feel confident that the design has been properly thought through.
This is my own hand-picked installer list. Every installer here is included because I believe they are worth speaking to.
You still need to make your own decision. Any quote, contract, survey, design, installation, workmanship, aftercare or warranty is between you and the installer.
Why trust this list?
Mick Wall created Energy Stats UK to share real-world home energy data, practical tools and plain-English guidance from his own electrified home in Sheffield.
This list is shaped by that same practical view: what good heat pump design looks like, what installers should be able to explain, and why measured performance matters more than marketing claims.
What makes this different
Installers on this list are recommended by Mick based on evidence, research, interviews, installer knowledge, and real-world heat pump experience.
The installer notes include comments based on interviews, public information, or personal interactions with the installers, so homeowners get more than just a company name and a link.
Where an installer has a customer discount, gift card, cashback, or other offer, it is shown clearly on the installer card.
I am prepared to recommend the companies listed here, but I do not guarantee the outcome of any installation. Homeowners should still compare quotes, ask questions, and check the proposed design.
